Breakfast is the beginning of your day. It actually means to break your fast...the fast that takes place while you sleep (wish I wasn't into my 20s when I finally realized that correlation :0). For this reason, you definitely want to feed your body the right way and provide it with the nutrients to power you through. "How?" do you ask?
If the same ol' eggs and toast seems monotonous, kick off your morning with something new and delicious. We have a few healthy suggestions to add variety, and OOMF, to your morning menu.
This handy grab-n'-go fuel (in a jar!) is for busy people who are pressed for time when it comes to their morning routine. Overnight oats are one of the easiest yet flavorful breakfasts that you can prepare for yourself the night before the morning madness. You can even make it in bulk for the week ahead! Put your own spin on things with different types of delicious toppings - but know that the basic recipe consists of rolled or steel-cut oats, your milk of choice (Califia is our favorite), and savory roasted sunflower seeds or nuts. Try adding some dry or fresh fruit, dark chocolate, almond butter, or yogurt; and use dates, mashed banana, cinnamon, maple syrup, agave or honey as a healthier alternative to conventional sweeteners. Get creative guys! You really can't mess this one up, trust us! Just don’t forget to add a scoopful of WELLNESS PLEASE multi-collagen peptides to make it a favorite stick-to-your-ribs breakfast!
Did we happen to mention that oats are amazing for you? This multi-tasking whole grain is gluten-free (in most cases) and a great source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Oats help to regulate blood sugar levels and have also been found to reduce the risk of heart disease. <3
Avocado Ricotta Toast
YES! It's possible, and easy, to put together a tasty morning kick-starter with only 3 ingredients and a scoop of WELLNESS PLEASE protein powder. There's an obvious obsession with avo-toast at the moment, so make yours with a spin of added protein power!
You only need: avocados, the sliced bread of your choice (Ezekiel or real sourdough is good!), and ricotta cheese. Use a fork to mash up the ripe avocado. Mix in the ricotta cheese, add a teaspoon of olive oil, and a generous scoop of WELLNESS PLEASE Multi-Collagen. Mash and blend thoroughly. For a touch of seasoning try garlic powder, a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, and some Himalayan pink salt to taste. Or go a sweeter route and drizzle delicious Manuka honey on top of the avo-ricotta mixture.
Avocados are the good guy of fat game-changers. They're incredibly nutritious, boasting a variety of over 20 different vitamins and minerals; though they're most known for their heart-healthy fats, fiber, and potassium. Plus, healthy fats keep you fuller longer and help boost brain cognition!
If you’re craving something sweet and quick for breakfast, look no further than the photogenic smoothie bowl! It only takes about five minutes to make and will satisfy that wicked sugar craving! Smoothies in a bowl are more fun than their drinkable partner because of the realm of possibilities for toppings. Be creative and add fruit, granola (we're obsessed with Purely Elizabeth!), coconut flakes, chopped nuts, or seeds...personally, we love hemp hearts! Making a yummy smoothie bowl is a snap. All you’ll need is frozen or fresh fruit, milk of choice or yogurt, and all the toppings you can dream up.
Simply add a handful of greens and a frozen banana or mixed berries to a blender with a scoop of our multi-collagen and a bit of milk - a few ounces less than you would for a smoothie. Blend until you have a light 'soft-serve' consistency. Then, sprinkle (or load on) the toppings! Because it requires chewing, the texture of a good smoothie bowl makes for more mindful eating. Chew your food, people!
They’re very Instagrammable... contrasting colors and layers on top of one another making a vibrant, collagen-rich collage! Be sure to tag @wellnessplease ;)
Another grab-and-go breakfast idea is the nutty breakfast bar. Breakfast bars, like overnight oats, can be made the day before, so zero time of your morning will be spent in the kitchen - leave the stress out of this! The foundation for these bars is oats, dates, almond butter, nut of your choice (walnut, almond, cashew, etc.), a pinch of pink salt and either honey or maple syrup as a sweetener. All you do is blend in a food processor, shape on a baking sheet and bake (for raw bars - freeze!). It's a sweet and salty combo with loads of crunchy texture. Toss in some dried fruit (we love unsweetened cranberries) and chia or sesame seeds to create your own brand of deliciousness!
I hope we''ve inspired you! These breakfast ideas will make your morning routine easier and more time efficient. Change it up - before you know it you'll have a whole repertoire of go-to fuel! Add a satiating and nutrient rich boost of WELLNESS PLEASE multi-collagen to your morning meal and dig in with zeal! Time to go take on the day.
