Clean Livin' | 7 Things You Should Know

Here’s everything you need to know to purge from toxic products you may be using in your home. It's so easy to overlook our everyday household brands when going clean, not realizing that these products can raise tons of potential health concerns. But with a few simple switches, you can continue on with your daily routine safely!

1) Lose The Aluminum
Odds are the deodorant you’re currently using contains aluminum compounds. What’s the harm in that? Well, aluminum clogs up your pores and prevents sweating. Pores need to be able to dispose of toxins. With them being clogged those toxins can lead to swollen lymph nodes. The aluminum content has also been linked to cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Ditch your old deodorant and go aluminum-free! There are much better choices out there that still leave you feeling fresh like Primal Pit Paste, Schmidt’s Naturals, or Tom’s of Maine.

2) Switch to Healthy Oils
Switch from any toxic petroleum and mineral oil based beauty products to products that use healthy oils like argan, avocado, or coconut. Take a look at your moisturizers, makeup removers, or face serums to make sure they use pure ingredients.

3) Shop Fluoride-Free Toothpaste or Tooth Powder
Use a natural toothpaste or tooth powder to avoid any fluoride content. Fluoride is highly toxic and can cause adverse effects over an extended period. Try using brands that provide fluoride-free options like Tom’s of Maine, dōTERRA, or Davids Premium Natural Toothpaste.

4) Toss Your Toxic Kitchen Cleaning Products
Kitchen cleaning products tend to be tough on dirty dishes and even harsher on your skin. Keep your dishes clean, while keeping your skin safe with kitchen cleaning products that are more natural. We love Ecos and any Mrs. Meyers natural blends to leave your kitchen clean and healthy!

5) Green Up Your Laundry Brands
Clean out your laundry room of products that contain heavy chemicals. Go organic! There’s a multitude of safe products just waiting for you to try. A couple of brands that are easy to find and will have you never turning back are Whole Foods 365, Mrs. Meyers, and Grab Green.

6) Sanitize Your Hands Safely
Stay away from toxic hand sanitizer. Use a plant-based one that’ll assure clean hands without the dangers of heavy chemicals. Switch over to products like The Honest Co or EO Lavender as your hand sanitizer choice. They smell wonderful and are easy to throw in your purse.

7) Enjoy The Sun Guilt-Free
Some sunscreen gives us UV protection, but can also contain harsh chemicals. When going natural, there’s no fear of being greedy with sunscreen. Juice Beauty is such a great brand with top scores from the Think Dirty App. Also steer clear of spray sunscreens. When you spray it on, tiny particles float in the air that isn’t so great to breathe in!
